http://www.maxj.net: Best
site ever made ever by anyone...ever. And it has some nice photos.
Encyclopedia Mythica: One of the greatest
sites ever made. This is largest compendium of myths, legends, and tales in all
the internet. Aside from the research factor it's not hard to blow a few
hours here just reading the articles. (There's also a couple free books,
one on witchcraft and a version of Arabian Nights.)
Pandora.com: Amazing site for sampling
music based off music tastes. I've found a few new bands I like based off
it's fairly accurate predictions. If nothing else you can use it like a
radio and stream music without the ads. It does require a sign in after
the first 10 songs or so, but I've never gotten any spam from them.
Frank Klepacki: He currently works
for Petroglyph studios, but formerly did music for the late, great Westwood
Studios. He also has a band our in Las Vegas. At the bottom he has samples
of all his songs. He has some good stuff up there (all the Command &
Conquer music for one.) so it's worth checking out.
Dictionary.com: It deserves mentioning, because it's the most useful resource on the internet. The Word of the Day is of course my greatest inspiration in life, but the translator, thesaurus, and encyclopedia make it well worth using.
The Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy: Another amazing reference resource that is a lot more interesting than you might suspect. Wikipedia might still be king of the quick look-up, but I prefer IEoP when it concerns philosopher or philosophers. (Not surprising.)
Common Errors in English Usage: I make these...often. It has some rather interesting discussions on whether or not certain things are errors at all (such as using they in the singular.)
http://www.georgerrmartin.com/: Last in this list but not the least, it's George RR Martin's site. He's the author of the Ice and Fire Series (Excellent) as well as a load of other books I'm unfortunately not as familiar. Of particular note is his collection of toy knights.
